Characters
Senna
Senna (birth name Sen ya Kita) is the protagonist of The Girl Who Would Be King. As an infant, she was brought to Earth for unknown reasons and lives as a ward of the state, moving through foster and group homes until her 18th birthday. After an incident at Wild Aspen State Park, she learns of her royal lineage through the Quirister Finney and chooses to accompany him back to Rahd to reclaim her throne. When Finney gifts Senna a weapon from his light, it takes the form of a rapier. Senna is exceptionally skilled with it, preferring the destreza school when engaging in combat.
Finney
Finney is a Boundless (one of the four kinds of Quiristers that can be found on Rahd) and Senna's companion. As Senna is new to O-Tikkanggan, he functions as her guide, translator, protector, and teacher, but generally does not interfere in combat due to his commitment to non-violence as a Boundless. Ironically, he is still capable of instructing Senna in swordplay. Before Senna, Finney was technically nameless, as all Quiristers are referred to by their role or function; the name "Finney" is short for "Infinitas," one of the alternate names for Boundless.
